Ashley Lazarz is an artist based in Austin, Texas.

She began painting and doodling as a child, using art as a way to escape the world and capture moments of joy. Primarily self-taught, she later received a minor in Studio Arts, continuing to develop her practice through intuition, experimentation, and a deep relationship with color. Working primarily in acrylic and mixed media, her paintings explore emotion, memory, and the beauty found in everyday life.

Her work is influenced by artists such as Vincent van Gogh, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Max Ernst, Philip Guston, and Georgia O’Keeffe, blending expressive mark-making with symbolic imagery and emotional storytelling. Flowers often appear throughout her paintings as both a visual language and a metaphor for tenderness, chaos, femininity, growth, and survival.

Outside the studio, Ashley draws inspiration from forms of movement and energy found in everyday life. Her yoga practice grounds her in stillness, breath, and the body, while late nights on dance floors and rave culture connect her to rhythm, freedom, and collective experience. Both spaces, one quiet and inward, the other loud and communal, inform the emotional pulse of her work.

Alongside her painting practice, she is the author of the poetry collection Pressed Flowers (2025), where many of the same themes present in her visual work continue in written form.

In 2026, Ashley became an active member of the Austin-based arts collective Bolm Arts, where she curated her first group exhibition with the collective and continues to engage in exhibitions, events, and collaborative programming within Austin’s creative community.
