Melodrama was born from grief and is an outpouring of emotion rather than a planned composition. The skeletal figure at the bottom represents a lost friend of the artist, its form both fragile and defiant. It stands amid a fractured, chaotic backdrop echoing the emotional disintegration that loss can bring. Among the heaviness a yellow sun peers from the top of the canvas being a powerful symbol of hope and the possibility of healing. Melodrama invites viewers to sit with discomfort, to see beauty in vulnerability, and to recognize that even in sorrow, light can break through.
